About the princess who went to The Hart of the Earth A Regine Normann story
The Story is happily starting at the court of the richest and most powerful King of the world. He slowly becomes old and stiff and the figure of death is appearing on the background. Suddenly the King is gripped by a great despair, and the whole court becomes sad and dresses itself in black The Princess is still young and when a friend comes along she, forgets everything about her grieving father and gives a feast. Then the king enters the hall, and furiously he throws the princess out of the castle. She is now alone and wants to die when suddenly a blue youth is turning up. He leads her to his mother the Queen of Mercy who tells her what to do. She has to reach the heart of the earth to pick a healing flower that can make her father youthful again. And so a journey starts that is dangerous, exciting but above all meaningful. Many strange beings appear and peculiar things happen. The Princess knows that she receives help on the way and she does not give up (even if she comes close by sometimes). So what can we learn from the Princess? She makes a free action filled with love to save her father even if this brings her in difficulties. She understands that it is actually the darkness of Death that has made her father throw her out of the castle. The Heart of the Earth is the opposite of Death and there, at the very centre of the Earth, grows the healing flower. This Heart is not to be reached with power or wealth but with attention and modesty. In a world where material wealth brings destruction (who can deny it at this point?) where do we go? That is what this story is about!
The municipality of Bø i Vesterålen is The Norwegian municipality of fairytales, oral storytelling and adventures. Mainly because of author Regine Normann(1867-1939)who wrote novels and wonderful fairytales, rooted in this landskape. Also because of all hidden and maybe still not found stories, in Bøs varying, wild and beautiful landscape. Not to forget all the stories originated from the long tradition of fishery and agriculture. This pearl of a place, Bø in Vesterålen is localised on top of the more famous big brother Lofoten.
Our goal for this developementproject is to, step by step, build the “Eventyrkommunen Bø” (Which might be translated to Bø, the municipality of oral storytelling, fairytales and adventures) and finally to be able to build Ringelihorn sagn og eventyrhule. A “cave” for fairytales and oral storytelling. In Ringelihorn you will find The Hart of The Earth! The senter of the cave, where stories are told and the fire are burning. Welcome to join the fairytales and adventures of Bø!
Watch our vision of the future cave for fairytales and oral stories
